MFFCA Poker Tournament

No Limit Texas Hold'em Rules & Format

When:  Wednesday January 18th 2012 On the day of tournament registration from 6:00pm to 6:45pm

Where:  Assiniboia Downs race track second level 3975 Portage Ave Winnipeg MB

Number of Entries:  First 120 Paid Entries

Tournament Length:  Approximately 5 hours including breaks

Poker will start at exactly 7:00pm on the day of event

$40 Prepaid Registration- Entries can be purchase from Guy Senecal (Contact # 612-4345) Or any MFFCA executive. Member names can be found on web site www.mffca.ca

Tickets maybe purchased first come first serve until all preregistered tickets are sold out or up to 6:30PM day of event no more ticket sales after 6:30 PM  Ticket stub must be obtained and shown on night of event. The tournament will be held regardless of the number of entries.No Refund on Prepaid entries.  Anyone may pre-register for other players.

(Transferring of pre-paid entries to other players will be allowed with ticket stub)

Transferred ticket must clearly have name and signatures of both original purchaser and that of new player and must be transferred prior to 6:30 pm deadline on date of event.  In the event of bad weather conditions tournament may be cancelled or postponed on the discretion of the MFFCA executive. (Refunds may be obtained or held for alternate date) Cancellation will be made via phone out and posted on website.  Top 5 players will split 50% of the entries including re-buys.

(1st – 20%, 2nd – 12%, 3rd – 9%, 4th – 5%, 5th – 4%)

Play:

You will receive two pocket cards face down, before first round of betting. There will be no limit to the number of raises a player can make.  (Minimum raise of the Big Blind) Pre-flop raise must be double of any previous raise.  Post-flop to river raises must be big blind minimum. After the first of four rounds of betting, three cards are "flopped" face up in the middle of the table and are used as community cards, meaning that every player can use the cards in the middle, as well as their hole cards, to make a hand. After the second round of betting, the fourth card (called the "turn") is placed face up in the middle. After the third round of betting, the fifth card and final card (called the "river") is placed face up in the middle. Then the fourth, and final, round of betting occurs. Players can fold when it is their turn to act.With all cards dealt, each active player makes the strongest 5 card hand from the community cards and their pocket cards. The player with the strongest hand wins the pot.In the event of a tie the pot will be split. Any odd chips will be removed by the dealer.

Elimination of players:

A player who has lost all chips and has exercised all re buy options will be eliminated from play.  If at any time a player is absent for more than 15 minutes other than scheduled breaks they will be eliminated   All players must obtain and retain registration stub throughout play and claiming prize.  In case of lost stub, winner will be verified via MFFCA stub registry.

 Play will continue until all but one player is eliminated or until 2 am, whichever is earlier.The order of finish shall be the order of elimination from last to first. The last remaining player shall be declared the winner. Re-buy will be monitored by documentation and punch-outs on player stubs.

RE-BUY RULES:

-          You will be allowed 2 re-buys of 1500 chips for $20 each re buy.

-          Re-buys must be purchased by the end of Break 1, at player’s table.

-          Re-buys must be purchased before you are eliminated and you are completely out of tournament chips.

-          Re-buy cash to be monitored totally by MFFCA members.

 Tournament Rules:

-          The lowest denomination of chip in play will be removed from the table when it is no longer needed in the blind structure.  All lower denomination chips that are sufficient quantity for a new chip will be changed up directly.  In cases where there are not enough lower denomination chips for a direct exchange, the chips will be exchanged as follows:

-          All lower denomination chips will be chipped-up to the next rounded off denomination of 500.  Example: Player has 400 chips; chip-up will be 500 value.  Player will 600 chips or better will chip-up to 1000 value.

-          If multiple players are eliminated on the same hand, the players starting the hand with the larger amount of chips finishes in the higher place for the prize money.  In the event that the players started the hand with the same amount of chips, they will be declared tied and will share equally in the prize money or award.

-          If a player leaves the table, his hand will post and fold by the time last cards are dealt and considered it is his turn to act. All cards are considered dealt once the player on the dealer button receives both pocket cards.  His blind will be posted and the hand will fold when there is action.  If at any time a player is absent for more than fifteen minutes, they will be eliminated from the tournament and their chips removed from play by tournament director.

-          A player must be at his or her sit by the time all players have been dealt complete initial hands to have a live hand.  Players must be at their seats to call time.  ‘At your seat’ is defined as being within reach or touch of your chair.

-          Only English may be spoken at the tournament.

-          All player chips must remain on the table at all times.

-          One player per hand.  You may NOT ask ADVICE as to how to act during the action period.  If you SHOW your cards to any other person, you must show all players.

-          No “splashing the pot."  Players are to place their chips in front of themselves so everyone knows exactly how much they are betting.

-          No “string bets”.  A player must state their intentions verbally and clearly (call, check or raise) before placing chips in front of them.

-          No “Table Talk” about a hand still in play.  Players should NOT talk about their hand while others are still playing.

-          A player who has lost all chips and has exercised all re-buy options will be considered eliminated from the tournament.

-          Players are responsible for protecting their own cards at all times.

-          Any unprotected cards will be considered dead if other players throw their cards on top, or dealer removes cards.

-          All single chip raises made is considered a call unless announced as a raise.  Exception; if multiple chips are thrown in the pot equal or more than the raise, they will be considered a raise.
